Basic Musculoskeletal Ultrasound COURSE

Educational Objectives
• Learning to use the ultrasound machine
• Identify normal musculoskeletal sonoanatomy
• Perform systematic ultrasound scanning of shoulders, elbows, hands, hips, knees and feet
• Know the basic pathological sonographic findings Workshops
• Learning of the main practical issues connected to machine handling and adjustments for proper imaging
• Supervised identification of anatomic landmarks and tissues in children
• Supervised standardized scanning of the hip, knee, ankle and foot, shoulder, elbow, wrists and hands in normal subjects
• Supervised scanning of adults with basic pathological findings

Timetable
Musculoskeletal Sonography Course for Rheumatologists, Basic Level, consists of 20 hours of activities within 3 days (lectures 30% of total time; practical training on models and/or patients with musculoskeletal disorders 70%)

Faculty
The speakers will come from major European musculo – skeletal ultrasound research centers and are rheumatologists mostly involved in previous EULAR courses.

Intermediate Musculoskeletal Ultrasound COURSE

Objectives
• to review the systematic standardized sonographic scanning method of each anatomical region, according to EULAR guidelines
• to learn about color and power doppler physics, applications, indications, and limitations
• to learn definition, ultrasonographic evaluation and quantification of synovitis, synovial hypertrophy, effusion, erosion, tendinopathy, tenosynovitis, enthesitis and degenerative lesions
• to learn semiquantitative scoring method application for joints, tendons, enthesitis
• to learn performing basic ultrasound guided injections

Workshops
• Learning of the main practical issues connected to machine handling regarding Power Doppler and Color Doppler settings
• Supervised standardized scanning of the inflammatory and degenerative hip, knee, ankle and foot, shoulder, elbow, wrists and hands
• Supervised basic technique of sonographic guided injections
